UFC’s Dana White still trying to book Weili Zhang vs. Rose Namajunas strawweight title fight, will bring in Carla Esparza if negotiations fall through

UFC president Dana White has revealed that he is trying to get a strawweight championship fight booked between reigning titleholder Weili Zhang and former champ Rose Namajunas.

During a recent chat with The Schmo, White was asked who’ll be next to challenge Weili Zhang for the UFC strawweight championship.

“Obviously the fight to make is Rose, so hopefully we can get that fight done. If not, the next in line would probably be Carla Esparza.” he said.

Namajunas and White made headlines last month after the latter claimed that Rose Namajunas “does not want” the fight against Zhang. Rose Namajunas, as well as her team, would publicly refute these claims. It seems as though White is still actively trying to get Zhang vs. Namajunas booked and is ready to bring in Carla Esparza if things don’t work out soon. Zhang has not defended her UFC strawweight championship since last March.
