Max Holloway returned to the win column on Saturday when he beat fellow contender Calvin Kattar in the UFC on ABC 1 main event.
Holloway (22-6 MMA, 18-6 UFC) earned the first headlining victory on network television during the UFC’s Disney era when he shut down Kattar (22-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) by incredibly one-sided unanimous decision in Abu Dhabi. With the win, the former champ snapped a two-fight losing skid, both of which came in title fights to Alexander Volkanovski.
Check below for the top Twitter reactions to Holloway’s victory over Kattar at UFC on ABC 1.
Max Holloway looks SHARP tonight. He’s a big, big problem in a fight with little risk of being taken down. Could be a long night for Calvin Kattar ahead. #UFCFightIsland

Kattar learning a harsh UFC lesson tonight. Ass whooping from Holloway. Absolute shit kicking. #UFConABC1

My goddddd. Every strike in the book. 10-8 you could even say 10-7. Saved by the bell

The UFC record for total strike attempts is 541 by Colby Covington vs. Robbie Lawler. Unofficially, after two rounds, Holloway has thrown 246 shots. #UFCFightIsland

The southpaw vs orthodox, cross to power head kick by Holloway at the end of the 2nd was brilliant. This is a master class. #UFCFightIsland

Lol @dc_mma is killing me 😂
“Fighters, put your sparring gear away!”

I admittedly fell victim to worrying about Holloway’s trends, but I also noted on multiple shows this week that I hoped that Holloway’s lack of sparring approach allows him to make a Robbie Lawler-like renaissance… liking what I see tonight. #UFConABC1

This is just art from Holloway. The pressure and shot selection is incredible.

Max’s ability to keep Kattar constantly guarded and guessing is allowing him to work so freely and playful. High level stuff!! #UFCFightIsland7

If I’m in Kattar’s corner, I’m telling him that’s the last round I’m going to let go that long without seeing more.

Gotta be so frustrating for Kattar. He’s still landing some hard shots here or there and then he looks at Holloway just eating them. Like, really? Nothing??
— Ben Fowlkes (@benfowlkesMMA) January 16, 2021
First thing Kattar’s coach Tyson Chartier says is “we’re going into the fifth round”.
I don’t think Kattar is out of this. He’s still landing solid counters and fighting back. I can’t blame them for allowing him to continue.

Max Holloway is still absolutely the man and Kattar is apparently one of the toughest human beings alive and is still in this fight which is insane #UFCFightIsland7
