UFC gentle heavyweight Thiago Santos thinks he can steal again the subsequent title shot from Israel Adesanya with a end around Glover Teixeira.
Santos normally takes on Teixeira in a 5-round main event of this weekend’s UFC on ESPN+ 40 event. Santos is the No. 1 ranked contender at 205lbs and Teixeira is ranked No. 3, so the normal consensus between followers and media is that this is a title eliminator. However, that looks like it’s not the situation any more right after UFC president Dana White not too long ago mentioned that Adesanya is obtaining the up coming title shot at the 205lbs belt that Blachowicz wears.
Speaking to Sherdog.com’s Marcelo Alonso forward of his major principal function versus Teixeira, Santos explained that he’s not offered still on Adesanya obtaining the upcoming title shot. In truth, the Brazilian KO artist is confident the lovers will press for him to get the future crack at the belt.
“A couple of weeks in the past, (UFC President Dana White) reported the contender would appear from the winner of my combat with Glover, now Adesanya obtained the spot,” Santos reported.
“Let’s wait around and see. Two points I have realized in my seven decades battling in UFC: Fights are determined by the followers, and settled only when both fighters sign the contract. I’m confident that if me or Glover have a great (functionality), the fans will be keen to see the winner fighting for the belt.”
Santos was then questioned how the fight with Teixeira will go, and though he could not give a prediction as to how he wins, he did predict that the battle will not go the distance.
“Glover is a total fighter that looks for the knockout or submission all the time. I would wager that this battle is not going to attain the 5th round. The only assurance I have is that enthusiasts will have a great deal of enjoyment in our fight,” Santos said.
