On Monday, UFC Vegas 26 suffered a major blow when the main event fight between Cory Sandhagen and T.J. Dillashaw was postponed due to injury. Fortunately, one of the biggest fighters remaining on the card is doing his part to carry the promotional weight.
Next weekend, Donald Cerrone will face Diego Sanchez in a bout that is being billed as the final fight of Sanchez’s career, and with the fight now closing in, “Cowboy” dropped a hype video for their fight on his YouTube channel where he issued an ominous warning to Sanchez.
“The things he says right now leading into the fight I don’t care about because they’re just him hyping himself,” Cerrone said. “It’s the things he said when I left Jackson’s, those are the things that piss me off. Like, he went to these restaurants and these places we had pictures signed and he ripped em all off and videoed it and made a big deal. So yeah, he did a bunch of under the belt things, said a bunch of bulls*** so it’s like, alright motherf***er, now you’ve got to eat your words. I’ll see you May 8 and I’ll beat the f*** out of you.”
Cerrone and Sanchez previously trained together at JacksonWinkeljohn in Albuquerque, N.M. before Cerrone’s falling out with Mike Winkeljohn in 2018. When Cerrone left, Sanchez stood up for the gym, attacking Cerrone on social media and offering to fight him then. That obviously didn’t come to pass and, ironically, Sanchez ended up splitting with JacksonWink not long after Cerrone left. But though they both have moved on from the gym that came between them, says he’s not ready to let bygones be bygones, and he certainly isn’t here to give Sanchez this wondrous retirement fight he is envisioning.
“There won’t be any touching gloves, any joking around with him, nothing,” Cerrone said. “F***ing, I’m coming to hurt him. That’s my whole goal here. Every kick, every punch, every knee, I want to break bones and hurt him bad. I want this to be his last hoorah. He thinks he’s coming in, ‘Ah, we’re gonna have a great fight with a legend and we’re gonna make fireworks.’ Bruh, you’re not riding off into the sunset. I’m gonna f***ing beat the s*** out of you and drag you behind my horse and you’re done, you’re out of here.
“I want everything cruel and malicious intentions when I fight him. Yeah, he f***ed up. Like, I want to beat his ass so bad that just before the ref stops it, I step back and let him recover and then beat his ass to that point again. That’s what I want to do. Like f***ing really beat his ass bad. Hurt him.”
Cerrone and Sanchez are two of the most tenured fighters in the UFC, with both men coming in the top-five for number of bouts in the promotion. In recent years, however, both men have had a rough go of things inside the cage. Cerrone has lost four of his last five, with the other result being a No Contest that was originally ruled a majority draw. Meanwhile, Sanchez is 1-2 in his last three bouts with the lone win coming by way of DQ steeped in controversy.

The amount of @nickdiaz209 related posts that I’ve been tagged in in recent days, is crazy!
It’s the perfect fight for both of us to step back in there.
You know that he won’t get matched favorably though… he’ll be used to build someone else up, which is a real shame.
