Glover Teixeira vs. Thiago Santos scrapped immediately after each fighters test positive for COVID-19
Glover Teixeira vs. Thiago Santos is now on an indefinite hold following both equally fighters have analyzed positive for COVID-19.
Teixeira vs. Santos was originally slated to headline UFC Vegas 10 (aka UFC on ESPN+ 35) on Sept. 12, but was postponed immediately after Teixeira analyzed optimistic for COVID-19 the 7 days prior to the battle.
UFC officials planned to go the bout to the UFC on ESPN 16 struggle card slated for Oct. 4 on Battle Island in Abu Dhabi. A women’s bantamweight bout between Holly Holm and Irene Aldana is slated to headline that fight card.
Now that Santos has also examined constructive for COVID-19, the bout has been sidelined indefinitely.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the news subsequent Tuesday night’s Dana White’s Contender Collection.
“Yeah, yeah, the fight is out,” White instructed reporters, who asked if stories that Santos had also contracted COVID-19 were being accurate.
“I never know what we’re gonna do however. We haven’t really acquired there yet.”
With both equally fighters owning had COVID-19 at roughly the same time, it is likely that the UFC would be able to inevitably re-program the bout when equally check detrimental and are cleared to combat again.
