Supreme Fighting Championship (UFC) light-weight contender Charles Oliveira, who at present sits in the No. 3 location at 155 lbs ., need to be future in line for a division title shot at the time reigning champion Khabib Nurmagomedov vacates his title.
That’s according to manager and mentor Diego Lima.
“I honestly think he deserves to go straight for the belt,” Lima told MMA Fighting. “He’s coming off eight wins in a row, defeat Kevin Lee in terrific trend and then dominated Ferguson all close to — and Ferguson is a person of the best of the division, won 12 straight right before getting rid of a title combat — so I think Charles is prepared and has ample trustworthiness to battle for the belt.”
Unfortunately for Oliveira (30-8, 1 NC) — and the rest of the 155-pound excess weight course — there are no guarantees that Nurmagomedov will be providing up the belt. That signifies “Do Bronx” could have to take a different struggle whilst the promotion figures out how to retain “The Eagle.”
Justin Gaethje seems to be the primary prospect.
“With all thanks respect, Khabib ran about [Gaethje],” Lima stated. “That must count, and a good deal. I think Charles’ subsequent combat has to be for the belt towards the winner of Poirier and McGregor, not Justin Gaethje. But we know this battle concerning Poirier and McGregor consists of a whole lot of points. We know that Poirier winning usually means one detail, and McGregor winning adjustments the complete scenario. I assume there is a large amount at stake in this struggle.”
Poirier rematches McGregor in the UFC 257 pay out-for every-check out (PPV) major event later on this month in Abu Dhabi and considering the fact that equally combatants were handily defeated by Nurmagomedov, it’s challenging to imagine a rematch keeping substantially fascination for “The Eagle.”
Then once again, everything can take place in MMA.
